Feature Film: Killers of the Moon

This weekend, movie enthusiasts can finally witness the release of Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated film, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which promises a captivating cinematic experience. Clocking in at three-and-a-half hours, the film showcases the growing trend of immersive moviegoing. However, it is important to note that the runtime should not overshadow the thoughtfulness and artistry behind Scorsese’s creation.

Based on the bestselling nonfiction book by David Grann, the film delves into the harrowing events surrounding the murders of members of the Osage Nation, a Native American tribe in 1920s Oklahoma. The Osage people had experienced newfound wealth due to the discovery of oil on their land, making them targets of a ruthless conspiracy. Described by Manohla Dargis, The New York Times’s chief movie critic, as a “heartbreaking masterpiece,” the film sheds light on this tragic chapter of history.
